View Full Version : Will Molded Shower Floor Drain Leak?

I am installing a Swanstone solid surface shower floor in a 2nd floor shower. The shower floor has a molded shower drain. The manufacturers instructions say that all I have to do is plumb the drain through the molded floor, slide on a caulk seaker gasket and snap in the strainer. It seams too simple and I am worried about it leaking. I would have thought that I would need to tighten or compress the washer somehow. Has anyone installed this type of shower floor? I am going to tile the shower and am worried about it leaking down the road. Also, it says that you don't need silicon sealer... is this correct?

I love Swanstones and follow that installation all of the time, no problems. You do not need silicone sealer but I do grease that black rubber sleeve with plumbers grease, helps to slide in place and add a layer of sealing goop.
