I am looking to install some wall sockets, and wanted to know the difference between DP and SP when buying the socket covers... probably a really easy one!

Westender,

Are you in the UK? The terms "DP" and "SP" relate to the type of switch or Circuit Breaker you have installed, not a outlet or socket.

"DP" - Dual Pole - The switch controls two internal straps, On a breaker DP refers to that the breaker is connected to two different power busses.

"SP" - Single Pole- The switch has one operating strap. On a breaker, the breaker is connected across one power bus only.

If you are referring to faceplates for plug receptacles they are just referred to as single, double, triple and so on. Usually a hardware store has these face plates grouped by color and type.

Have a nice remainder of your day.

The switch has two conditions, On/Off
