With my new job I can get a health plan in Sept.
I heard of this health plan that is good only if you have to be admitted to the hospital
And I think the emergency room.
I think it started with a C
Like maybe catastrophic or something
I want to ask about that but don't know the word

Thanks

Good evening - You sound like you are seeking a short-term medical program. They typically offer coverage for a set duration of time (6 months) and will assist should you end up in the hospital with a catastrophic event. These plans are relatively inexpensive as they do not offer benefits for pre-existing conditions and the length of time the coverage will exist is limited.

The plans are very popular for the exact scenario you describe - a probationary period before the major medical portion becomes available to a new employee. Most can be issued immediately should pass through underwriting. This type of product usually asks a number of yes-no questions and should answer no to all of them, your coverage will be issued on the spot.

Your human resource department may be able to direct you or an independent agent who specializes in individual medical coverage can also help. They often have one or two markets for short-term medical coverage that they can go to.

No, a catastrophic plan is merely ( normally a major medical) but it has a large deductable, such as 5000, or 10,000. So it pays nothing unltss you have a very major hosptial stay. Some will add a accident rider to allow for some accident payments. Often if the catastrophic plan is an approved plan you can have a pre tax savings to pay your own medical bills.

If you are merely wanting something to cover you until your company insurance kicks in that is as grab the brass ring described.

There are plans that only pay for hosital and ER, and do not pay for drugs or doctor visits. Those are merely limited pay or hospital only plans.
There are a few that will even include a rider for doctor visits and out patient treatments. There on the surface often even appear to be a major medical, but are normally limited in that they will only pay a max of 100,000 to 300,000 a year per person.

What it is that I heard about is an insurance plan that if you have to go to the hospital for surgery for an amount of time for surgery or an accident or whatever it will only pay for that and no primary doctor or anything like that. It is all I want most likely cause I do not go to the doctors.
