Hi,

I'm considering a dog walking/sitting service - as a small business of my own. I need some information on getting Licensed, Insured and Bonded. Do you have any information on this subject? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much,
Amy

Concerning licensing, if you do need to be licensed for something like this, I would contact the city officials where you will be doing the work. As far as insurance is concerned, you would see an insurance agent. I doubt that you would need to be bonded for something like this, unless you want to be. You would also speak with the insurance agent about bonding or check the yellow pages of the phone book for people that provide bonding.

I am not sure why a dog walker will need to be bonded, I guess if you are going to be in peoples home with them gone, you may want to be, to protect if you steal from the client??

But normally unless you are required to be bonded there is no reason

Your local full line insurance can talk to you about insurance, if this is a very part time, often your home owners can add a rider to cover some business.

You need to contract your city about your business license
