I have tried teflon tape and joint compound on the new shower arm I installed and there is still a small leak. What options do I have to correct this problem? Can I epoxy the joint, can it be soldered?

Thanks!

Hi Jsnyder... how many wraps of teflon you using... and what tool are you using to tighten the shower arm..

Hey Massplumber,

My first attempt was only a couple of wraps. The second attempt was to go buy the joint compound... and to be honest with you I thought that worked... until of course I went to use the shower for the first time and I saw it leaking.

I have read up a bit on this and I have read you can use a combination of both the teflon and compound... which I was thinking of trying. In the meantime I thought I would ask others like yourself for input. I was just hand tightening, but I have to say it was really tight.

Thanks again for your input with this.

When we have a chrome pipe to tighten we use a strap wrench, (see image).
Put some muscle behind it and crank that sucker in. good luck, Tom
