I've a shower upstairs (loft converted into room), and it gives either very cold water or no water when we use kitchen/bathroom taps. When no other tap is used, it does seem to work OK.

I don't know anything about plumbing. Help me how can I get rid of this problem.

Thanks
Uma

Need more details. Sounds like a pressure problem but do not know for sure yet. Was it done by a pro or a dyi.?

Hello Uma lade:

A few questions.. ok?

Can you get hot water out of it fine when NOT using other faucets/fixtures? I understand you can get cold sometimes... is it full pressure cold sometimes when using other faucets or only when no other faucet is being used?

Wondering if you have a pressure balanced valve that would not work properly if hot water flow was compromised.

Otherwise, you may have a volume/pressure issue here where pipes are undersized for the job at hand and when too many fixtures are used the flow of water cannot keep up with demand and you get a reduced flow of water.

Answer razor96's question, too... was this work done by a plumber or a DYI..

See if you can answer ALL our questions and also, tell us the name of shower valve, how old it is, what size your water main coming into house is, and what size pipes feed upstairs/loft bathroom... ok? We can tell you more next post... Talk soon.. Mark

One more question, OK then, two. How old is your home and what material are the pipes made of? Cheers, tom
