I have a relatively new water heater. Recently we had a vicious wind storm & since then the pilot light on my water heater will not stay lit. Also, when all is "functioning", the flame heating the water is orange, plus I heard sizzling sounds.
What can I do?
I thank you for your aid & expertise!

Your 4 month old water is still under warranty. The new water heaters depend upon a safety device that was just starting to be installed a few years ago. Hopefully that is not a problem.

The flame should not be orange.
Hissing sounds like a small water leak or condensation.
Both the pilot and burner might be having a problem because of the new style safety device I mentioned above.

Use your warranty and watch the service man when he does the repair to learn about the safety device.

Jcland - The sizzleing may have been water driping , you may have a small water leak, could you see any water present on the bottom of tank below flame and pilot?? It sounds to me like you have a bad tank . I would take it back to where you got it and tell them it leaks on bottom and pilot will not stay litand you heard sizzeling at the bottom while it was lit for awhile, tell them you want a new one in place of that one, if it is that new it is in warranty.< Good LUCK & GOD BLESS :::: F.B.E.
