My 9 year old has an overbite and my dentist wants him to see an orthodontist. He tells me it will be easier to work with his jaw as it grows instead of trying to realign it later in life. Everything I've found on the issue deals with older teens and adults having to get their jaw broken, Does anybody know if there is a way to do this without breaking the jaw due to his age?

Orthodontists usually want to take advantage of the growth periods of younger children if it's possible. The bones are easier to move the younger you are.

Here's a good link for you to look at.

I hope this puts your mind at ease.
