My husband has had tinny teeth ever since he was a baby, because he was a premature baby and his mother was ill during pregnancy. He has seen a dentist several years ago, he know is refusing to go due to a bad experience. In the last 3 weeks I have noticed when we wake up in the morning, there are stains on the bed from his mouth that are brown and blood like stains. What are they? Is he in serious trouble?

Usually a foul odor and staining occure with a number of issues. Some are more serious then others. However, without an actual exam it is hard to say what the problem is. I do however, highly recommend that you get him to a dentist. Schedule a cleaning, and if the hygenist sees more serious problems she can then advise him etc. Maybe facing the lesser evil will help him get deal with the fobia. Hope this helps.

It sounds like your husband may have gum disease.
Here's an information packed link for you to read. There's even a quiz to see if your husband is at risk for gum (periodontal) disease.
Gum Disease Information from the American Academy of Periodontology (http://www.perio.org/consumer/2a.html)
I agree with the previous poster, your husband should make an appointment to have his teeth cleaned as soon as possible. As you will read in the above article, gum disease has been linked to many serious health problems. He is also putting YOU at risk of getting gum disease as this bacteria is transferred through saliva.
