Luke 4.18- 19 -The spirit of the lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the lord."

What is the acceptable year of the lord?
and After hearing what Jesus proclaimed in the synagogue, what signs would the people of Nazareth look for to know that god cares for them??
I think it is pretty straight forward, but my GF wants to be sure... So I'm asking for others opinions, thanks!

The 'accepable year' is the Greek translation for Hebrew 'year of goodwill' which Jesus was reading of from the scroll of Isaiah 61:1-3.
This is telling of a time when certain ones would be looked favorably upon by God and be anointed as Jesus himself was when baptized.
The sign that they knew they'd been accepted by God was the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on 120 of them at Pentecost 33 C.E. (Act 2:1-4)
Not too straight forward for some, even me. Took me ages to research it and get the full grasp of it. Hope it helps.
