View Full Version : Water in inducer housing

I have a York Diamond 90 that I am trying to figure out what is causing an issue with it.
I seem to have an issue with a lot of condensation building up in the inducer assembly. There are three tubes that feed the condensate trap however it tube from the inducer drain is the one that is draining the most water(the bottom part of the inducer). All the tubes and trap seem to be clear. I would assume the condensate pan drain should have the most water but there is very little. Could there be a blockage in the vent pipe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, I can hear the water sloshing around and the inducer motor whines as the water builds up. I just had the inducer motor changed about a month ago.

Vent could be blocked OR snow if the pipe is to low.
Make sure all drains are clear.Make sure all vent pipe areas are clear of debris.
If you just had the inducer replaced it might have been because of the water. If you do not find the problem you will need to call a pro or you might be buying another inducer.

If the system is working no worries, the splashing sound around the inducer wheel is normal. You may have more condensation on cooler days than the warmer ones.

Yea, everything seems to be working fine now. I took a shop-vac to all the hoses, pipes,etc. The unit has a horizontal vent pipe so I believe the proper design of my system should have been built with a tee at the horizontal part so that condensate in this part would flow off to the drain. The installers got lazy or just didn't care I guess, sigh.

Good deal. Glad you got it working. I believe water in the inducer creates a load on the inducer motor that is not supposed to be there. They are designed to push air not pump water.

Quick question. When I got the inducer changed, I believe the installer should have used RTV sealant on the vent pipe as well as probably to the gasket that attaches to the condensate pan. Am I correct and should I go back and put this on?
