Help! I have a Snapper Hi-Vac riding mower. It's probably a late 1980s model. The transmission will not engage in reverse or greater than 1 on the speed adjustment thus it is very slow. Any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated if it is even possible to repair. Thanks, Eddie

Could just be a linkage problem. Look for any dangling, loose, or missing parts from the shifter lever to the transaxle.

Is it a rear engine rider?

Not sure if it is or not yet, but it sounds like it is going to be a rear engine rider.
