I am trying to file my taxes online but I'm having some problems with my W-2's.
I am a South Carolina resident and was for the entire 2007 year. I worked for 3 different companies in North Carolina for the 2007 year.
In box 15 on 2 of my w2's it says NC (north carolina) and has the state ID number.
In box 15 on the 3rd w2, it says SC (south carolina) w/ the state ID number.
My state taxes should have had nothing to do with South Carolina as the business is located in North Carolina, and that should be where the state taxes were deducted.
When all this info is entered in to taxslayer, it says I am owed a refund of $19 from North Carolina but I actually owe $800 to the state of South Carolina.
Im not sure why this is or how to go about correcting it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I will have to look it up at work tomorrow. Many states such as the state I am in out here on the west coast charge you tax on all income earned in and out of your home state. Some states charge only on the work done in the state and some states have agreements with each other regarding the taxes between the two states. I need to look it up in my books at work and I do not have them here with me. Since I am not directly affiliated with either of the two states I cannot answer it without looking it up in my books.

If you email me the question tomorrow I will look it up for you in the books and let you know. [email protected].
