My question regarding wages. If one is on salary, (set wages), then does that employee also get paid for any sick time? Or is that left up to the discretions of the employer? If an employee is on an hourly then I presume sick time is deducted.

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.
Sick time is not a given. There is no law that says an employer must pay if the employee is not there. While most companies do provide for sick time, each has their own rules that should be spelled out in an employee handbook.
