Which county? Generally there are sheriffs elected by the county.

Texas Rangers aren't the primary law enforcement but are interesting

Despite what you see on Walker Texas Ranger ( one of my favorite shows)
The county sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer in an area in most states in the US.

Remember the episode where the sheriff was someone who had been drummed out of the Rangers. He harassed a black family just passing through and that's how Walker got involved.

Yes, it is so hard to pick my favorite, I liked so many of them. Yes I oved the Power Team, have never seen them in person, but would love to.

Guess my favorite is the one I see next, Life is so simple there, bad guys are always bad guys, Walker does not get into trouble for excessive use of force. ** still don't understand, he kicks their butt and does not arrest them, guess he has to save them all for the big fight scene.

But I love it when he throws them in the back of his truck to go to jail.

*** and to the OP sorry we got off thread, but you got your answer,

Well actually, I was pointing out that episode because it WAS on topic. It showed the County sheriff being above Walker, until Walker showed he had violated state law.
