We got Honeywell thermostat that goes blank, digital screen, while the heat is on. If we want to increase or decrease the level we have to push button several times and wait until the display comes on and then we can change the setting.
Is the thermostat bad? Why it would go blank?

Does it have a battery in it in need of changing?

No batteries. It seems it goes blank whenever is set to 67F. At other settings is fine.

Buy a new thermostat,, or avoid setting it on 67 degrees

Some Honeywell thermostats in the past had problems with the display as they got older. Honeywell still makes one of the best thermostats available.

It is a good thermostat, easy to maintain and so far worked for the last 9 years. Summer is coming up and so we'll be using different settings. We'll see how that works.
Thanks, George

If a limit switch opens up on the system it will kill 24volts going to the thermostat. A main limit will open because of high temps inside the unit and then reset after it cools back down. Some reasons for the main limit tripping--- dirty filter, dirty evaporator coil, supply vents shut off or restricted, blower set on to low of a speed or blower wheel dirty.
