I am on F-1 visa and my wife is on F-2 visa status. We stay in MD. She joined me on 17th July 2007. I have SSN but I don't have TIN for my wife. I have to file taxes for 2007. I am confused and any help would be highly appreciated.

Unless you are from India, Sout Korea, Mexico or Canada, you CANNOT claim your wife as a dependent on your Form 1040NR, so she does not NEED an ITIN.

If you are from one of these countries, you can apply for an ITIN using Form W-7 with a notarized photocopy of her passport.
