- 300 Baud modem
- 10000 mile fiber link will also add a significant latency no matter how fast your end equipment is
- a very slow PC running as a router could is a slow device which adds latency but when you comapre it to the latency induced by long distances then distance would be the factor

Any device that does stateful packet inspection or encrypts/decrypts data would add some latency.

Our biggest latency creator is the Webfilter. It usually tosses another 60-80ms onto the website loadtimes.
