I am currently about to start a child support case with my ex boyfriend and father of my child, he signed the birth certificate but has expressed to me he wants to sign over his rights, I am perfectly OK with this if it means he would not HAVE to be in my daughters life (trust me Its for the best under the circumstances) now from what I know he would have to be the one to get an attorney and start the procedure but he does not have the money or will make the effort to try to do this simply because of being lazy, I wanted to know if I hired an attorney if I can request to TAKE his rights away?

If you read the hundreds of similar threads, plus the sticky note at the top of this forum, you would have had your answer.

Bottomline is its very hard to get parental rights terminated. Generally its done only if there is someone waiting to adopt or if the parent presents a danger to the child. Its NEVER done just to allow the parent to get out of paying support.

No, he can not, you would merely be wasting your money, go ahead with your child support case
