Can this be fixed or do I need a new dryer?

Two areas that need a constant vilgent check:
1] remove the lint collecter screen and scrub with a hard bristol brush and dishwater soap. The problem here is that the wax that coats the dryer softner usually collects on the screen and reduces the air flow, which can create more drying time.
2] area that needs to be replace is the dryer hose that exits on the back bottom side of the dryer at least every year with medium usage. Too much lint can build up in the hose thus harder to release the hot air.

Last, when you run the gas dryer, usually within last than a minute the ignitor will like the gas furnace within the dryer. You should feel some heat inside the drum area. If not, then there is a heater issue that may require attention.
