Hi. We just moved to a house with a well. Recently, whenever we turn on the water or flush the toilet, the water pressure comes out in "spurts" instead of a continuous flow. Do you know what might be causing this and if so, is this something we/laypeople can fix ourselves?
Thanks so much.

What type of pump? How deep the well? How old the unit? Bladder or pressure tank? If a bladder tank, have you checked it? It's function is to give you a smooth flow. Back to you. Tom

If, by spurts, you mean the pressure fluctuates up for a few seconds and then down for a few seconds, then you might be short cycling. You can tell fairly easily by finding the electrical switch that controls the pump (small grey box probably near the pressure tank). IF you are short-cycling, you will notice a clearly audible "click" every few seconds in the switch that will correspond with the fluctuations in pressure. This will only happen when you are using water. If that is the case, then let us know.
