Hi,

I am came to US on L1 visa on Aug 13, 2007. And my company paid me Indian salary and $70 per day allowance and took care of my Apartment rent of $1375 & gave me a medical insurance reimbursement of $425.

They started my US payroll only from February 1st.

I am really confused about whether I should file taxes for this year. I have filed taxes this year back in india.

Will be great if some one could help me out by giving some information.

Thanks

Vivek

Did your company issued you any W2 or 1099 for 2007? If income on W2 is more than $3,400 or on 1099 it is more than $300 you must file your tax return for 2007.

No they haven't given me either. They kept on telling me that I don't have to pay any tax as I was not being paid anything as salary as such, and it was all alownces.

Thanks

Vivek

If you did not have income in 2007, you don't file. You did not get W2 that shows you did not have any wage income.
