A woman who hates me for exposing her friend as a thief is spreading lies about me and everything I do. The latest is telling the county parks and recreation that I am ripping people off, lining my pockets on government property, pretending to be a non-profit organization when I am not, and more. They are denying me field usage until I can show them my books. I run 2 tax-exempt organizations for youth soccer; a Free Soccer programs for 2-6 year old children, and a soccer academy for 5-15 year olds. Both have IRS Tax ID#'s for non-profits. Is there such a thing as a restraining order for defamation? What should I do? I'm not looking for money, I just want her to stop.

Since what she is saying interferes and limits things in your life you should be able to get something done.

I would have an Attorney write her a letter demanding that she cease and desist. She's either going to stop or not and then you may have to take legal action against her. Don't know what State you are in but intentional infliction of emotional stress usually works wonders. Send an Investigator to wherever she's telling these lies - hope she says something she knows is untrue and defamatory and... bingo!

As far as denying you field usage - show them your books, see if they will give you something IN WRITING concerning the fact that you have been denied use of the field and why. That way you're prepared for what happens next.

I'd say to ignore her, sticks and stones and all of that, but it sounds like she's pretty hard to ignore!

Yes, this a good example of a reason you can sue them, you also should follow up with the field with a meeting, with them, also if this person has any position with them, seek punishment from their work.
