What is the difference between percentage & percentile?

You should know what a percentage is. It's based on a 100. Think of counting pennies.

50 pennies would be 50% of a dollar.

But, a percentile is different.

Let's suppose that your score on a test is in the 90th percentile. That means you scored better than 90% of the others who took the test. Pretty good. It does not mean 90% of some ideal tet score.
