I am re-framing a shower stall in which I will not be using a pre-fab shower. The stall itself was a 34 x 51 stall. What I am concerned about is the shower door that we will be using. It is 22 1/4" wide. How do I frame the facing wall? I will not be using a pre-fab shower pan either so I need to know how to frame for the step that will be inside the shower once it is tiled. Also I saw that there once was a 2 x 4 on the ceiling and I would like to put that back but I'm not sure if there was more than one stacked together and then greenboard over the top or if I can just fill that in and not worry about putting the 2 x 4/s back. Is there a standard that I can go by for this facing wall? I keep reading about non pre-fab shower stalls where they use shower curtains and make the shower pan flush or use all pre-fab. I would like more information on the good ol' fashion way. Thanks!
