I was driving down the road in NC and I was told by the officer that pulled me that I was clocked going 85 in a 55 with no other cars around me. An officer pulled behind me through the median and started following me. He waited until I got off the bypass and pulled me over into a gas station. He charged me with reckless driving and endangerment of others also. I saw the officers radar and it was blinking 85 and I knew I was nowhere near that speed when he clocked me because I looked at my spedometer when my police radar went off and I was only going 75mph. Is there any way that I can plead for a prayer for judgement or improper equipment? How would I go about doing this?

If you are going to fight these charges you should get yourself a very good attorney that specializes in this type of case. I would not recommend doing this yourself though. You can, but if you did not know what you are doing, it could be costly in the end for you.

You can challenge the equipment by requesting proof that it was properly tested before the shift, radar is checked at start of shift by a tunning fork test. But it is most likely you were under radar long down the road before you knew or saw the officer. And the radar units whle this one may have locked into place, do not have to lock into place and they are not required to even show you the reading. But I doubt you have much luck but you can try.
