My granddaugther is one yr. old and she stiffens up all the time, it's almost as if she is doing stiff leg push up she makes funny sounds when she is doing it, and she always stiffens when she hugs you. It has become very concerning to me, what should we do?

My niece used to stiffen up when she was an infant, but out grew it. She was having a type of seizures. I had a young neighbor that would stiffen up and also stare without blinking for serval minutes she was around 10 or so, this was seizures and was helped with meds and the proper rest.
My suggestion would be to start with her doctor and go from there.

It could be something called Hypertonia... this is when certain sensations to the muscle or nerve causes the muscles to contract... creating the movement and stiffening
