She keeps pulling on the leash.. I stop and wait for her to come back before we move forward as the trainers suggest but its not working.. she knows all basic commands except how to walk on a simple leash.. what can I do to get her to walk beside me?

A no pull harness works for me, my dog pulls horribly, we had a choker (bad idea) that he just kept pulling and pulling anyway, we had a pinch collar (worked for awhile, safer, couldn't close as far as the choker, just gave pinches), but the harness when he pulls, pulls back on his front legs, he struggled for awhile to get out of it and gave up and walks, after regular walking with it for a few weeks, was able to walk him without it, but when we didn't walk him for awhile (because it was like 50 below with the windchill for a couple weeks) we had to use it again.

Pulling the dog backwards is a good technique too. Some like reversing direction. Both those techniques work regardless of the type of collar your use.

Still, you may want to switch to a head collar. The leading brands are Promise, Haltie, and Gentle Leader. They have a strap going around the dogs nose looking something like a muzzle. They work by pulling the dogs head around. No other way gives you such great control with so little force.

Can't do the Gentle Leader she takes it off and lays on the ground and rolls to geti t off she can't stand it the no pull harness which one were u referring too?

I believe mine is a sporn no pull harness, I got mine at petsmart, I am sure petco has the same, or you can order them online, mine was only about $15.

I've had success with a no pull harness I got at petco. It directs the dog sideways at the chest when she tries to pull. However, the dog does not understand the concept of walking on a leash with that. Mine doesn't anyway.

A prong collar looks vicious but is actually safer than a choke chain and far more effective. The prongs imitate the mother dog's teeth on the neck. For a large dog who pulls your arm out of the socket, get a padded leash. I'd put a padded leash with a prong collar. A few training sessions and she will understand that she is to walk beside you.

Ill try the harness, she's so funny if I'm holding the clicker she walks perfect and pays attention. Without that in my hand she is crazy.
