Hi Folks, just wanted ask about Toxoplasmosis and cats. We have a cat and a little concerned. Is this something that cats just generally carry? Or is this something that can be tested and treated. I am in the process of calling my Vet now and for the test it's 125 bucks  , wanted to know if it was worth it, that great of a deal, and get some other feedback on the issue. I completely understand not touching the litter and staying clear of it. Thanks so much in advanced. :)

It's not worth it. Toxoplasmosis is found in the feces of cats, particularly outdoor cats. If you are pregnant, just hve your husband clean the littler box. Many women who have cats, even multiple cats, have healthy pregnancies and give birth to healthy babies.

Thanks J_9, I accidentally changed the litter a few times before finding out it's a risk. I am don't with it and won't touch it again. Thanks for the response..

Just make sure your husband changes the litter box because my friend was around a cat and changed the litter box and her baby has a lot of problem and the docs told her it was from the cat just be careful and goodluck and congrats

I agree I have a cat and my husband gets the great job of cleaning the kitty litter, I don't have any problems related to my cat. I do have issues but I did ask my doctor and he said no little max has nothing to do with it, hope that helps.
