Hi All

I just moved into a condo not too long ago and have a Whalen Series IV heat pump/AC. The wires from the unit are G, B, Y, W, & R. They are plugged into a Simple Comfort 2001 thermostat. In the thermostat the connections are G, B, Y, W, C, & R. The yellow wire from the unit goes into the Y connector in the t-stat with a jumper that goes into the W connector. The W wire from the unit goes into the C connector in the t-stat.

The Noma unit I have only has 4 wires and runs on two AA batteries. It has connectors for G, R, Y, & W. Is this unit (Noma 52-2557-0) compatible with my heat pump even though the wires don't match up?

If anyone has installed one of these I would greatly appreciate the help...

Thanks!

I do not believe the thermostat will work on your heat pump. It is for a standard single stage heat. You need one for two stages of heat.

Take it back and get a good Honeywell heat pump thermostat.

Thanks for the quick response... I will look into it. Do you have any suggestions for models? I'm looking for something pretty basic.

Thanks again!

The only digital thermostat that I've found that works with the Whalen Series VI heat pump/AC is the Honeywell RTH7600D, about CAD$ 120.
