I had a dear friend who passed away 2yrs ago and before he passed he told me that he put me in his will, and had also metioned that before several times before his death. He had a wife and she didn't know of our relationship so I'm assuming that he would have left private for me to receive what he left me, I have a feeling that he had his good friend which was also a lawyer deal with it after his death beings that he knew of our relationship and could be trusted, I have not came out to ask him if he knew of Lou leaving me something and putting him in control of doing so,I have talked with his friend more than I can coumt, after my friends death he called me at least 1 a week for 2 years and I thought of that strange since I didn't even know him that well. I know it would be a bad thought to think that he haad control of some money that was left for me and would not do the right thing, but its real hard to trust some people especailly when money is involved.I was just wondering if there was osme way to find out if I was put in a separate will of his left for me. There is no "private will" there would be one will, with everyone and every body named in it. The will would have went to probate at his time of death, At probate everyone named would have been notified if they could be found.

1. ask the lawyer
2. check with the probate court where this person lived ( the one that died) and see if his estate went to probate or not.

3. remember bank accounts that were owned jointly by his wife normally pass straight to her, So depends on how much he had and how it was deeded and listed, there may or may not have been a probate to do.

There can only be one Will and if it's been two years, you haven't been served with any papers, you are most probably not mentioned in it.

Why don't you just ask the good friend/lawyer?
