I've just bought a blond hair dye from the shop and it says on the box can be used on all hair types even hair that's already been coloured. My hair is currently dyed dark brown an I want it to go lighter like my natural colour mucky blonde, I've done a strand test and that came out looking gingerish/golden can anyone tell me what I could do if I put this product all over my hair and it comes out ginger what I could do to correct it or get it blond. I'm really desperate to go lighter but hair dresser really expensivexx

The reason why the strands came out a reddish color is because dark hair has red pigments in it. So using a high-lift blonde hair color on dark brown will pull red tones. If you want a decent blonde shade without the brassy tones, it's best to bleach your hair to the level of lightest your want, then apply the desired color. You might want to get it professionally done.
