Doctors are your best friend, my dear. They will help you throughout your life to stay healthy if possible. So, you have been to the doctor for a pregnancy test and they told you to come back and you are, for a confirmed answer, yes or no. I am assuming that is your post is about. They don't do anything if they are just confirming.

Tell me, did you have an internal examination by your doctor yet ? Lets start with that information. You are leaving out a lot I think.

No I havent't... Um, I've taken like 4 at home tests, two pos. two negative. And My boyfriend wants to take me to a pregnancy center close to where we live, because they have free preganancy confirmations, I don't want to go t my family docter because I don't want my parents to find out. (I'm 17) But I want to know if am.

Nothing they do will be invasive if that's what you are worried about. There are a few ways they can tell:

* A blood test or a urine test will help in determining the presence of the hCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) hormone.
* An ultrasound scan will also detect a pregnancy at 4-6 weeks.
* Fetus can also be felt through abdominal palpations at around 3 months.

Your family doctor is bound by the Hypocratic Oath not to divulge a patient's condition to anyone, however, I realize why you don't want to go to the Family doctor.

Just relax and get it over and done with; you are doing the right thing. Good luck and please let us know what happens. Hugs.

Ah, you have "white coat fever" I do sometimes too and I am a nurse extern.

A confirmation of pregnancy is done with either a urine test or a blood test.

As for invasive, well, they will check your cervix for changes that occur with pregnancy.

Your doctor can be your best friend. Especially your baby's best friend!! The doctor will keep you and bay healthy during pregnancy so that, if you are pregnant, you deliver a healthy baby boy or girl.

It can be scary going to the doc for the first pregnancy appointment. My doctor along with a urine and blood test did do an internal at my first appointment, she said that she could feel I was pregnant by the slight increase in size of my uterus. Also I was sent for an early ultrasound the day of my first appointment to confirm that there was a heartbeat, so I guess it just depends on your doc. If you are pregnant congrats, and you will start looking forward to the doctors appointments if you are!

Here in the U.k we do not have internals when pregnant we get in confirmed by doc with blood test. Then referred to maternity hospital and have scan at about 10-12 weeks to confirm date
