I am 16years old and I'm due to have my daughter any day now but her father ran off. He wants to sign away rights but he is in another state and will not tell me where he is or send me the papers himself. He has been charged with sexual assault on 2 minors, his sisters, and is not able to be a father. He has no job and is living from place to place and trying to keep it to where I cannot contact him for fear of putting him in jail for child support. I don't know what to do. I'm worried he may eventually come back and try to take her away from me and I'm not sure what he is capable of doing to her. After what happened with his sisters I don't feel that my daughter is safe around him. What can I do to take his rights away from him completely besides not putting his name on the birth certificate?

If he has been charged with sexual assault of a minor and also got a 16 yr old pregnant, its unlikley he will ever be granted custody or anything less than supervised visitation of your child. So I wouldn't worry about that. Even if he wants to sign away his rights, the courts aren't going to allow it. And if you need to go after him for child support, do so. If you need to apply for public assistance they will go after him.
