Maybe you have some ideas for me. I am looking to create interesting finishes/effects in some of the wood fish decoys and wood fishing lures I make as a hobby. I have seen examples from the 1930's where it appears as though some type of ink was or paint was applied over a painted or varnished surface and the ink(?) or paint separated into a varying roundish bullseye type pattern. I know that by applying different paints, varnishes, lacquer, inks, heat etc. can result in some interesting effects/results, but I don't know the process. I am seeking any interesting effects in addition to the bullseye pattern I described. I have had very minor success with much effort and trial, and believe there has to be an easier way to create different finishes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. dekes

Would you be able and willing to post any images of the lures here that you are trying to imitate as far as the effects of painting patterns? That would really help us to help you better if you would do that.
