Hi, I heard that if a woman takes saw palmetto, her breasts will enlarge as a side effect, now is this true if it is, how much needs to be taken daily to effect enlarging the breasts?

Thank,star

I have heard that too. I wouldn't take more than the bottle says.

Saw palmetto is a very mild herb. The American Herbal Products Association gives saw palmetto a class 1 safety rating, which means that it is safe when used as directed. Side effects are very rare, although mild stomach complaints and minor headaches may occur. One case of significant bleeding during surgery has been attributed to saw palmetto use prior to the operation.
Do not use prior to surgery, if pregnant or nursing
May interfere with Iron absorption.

Possible Interactions

Finasteride (Proscar)

Because saw palmetto may work similarly to finasteride (Proscar), you should not use this herb in combination with finasteride or other medications used to treat BPH.

I am a 60 year old woman experiencing hair loss. I have read that Saw Palmetto and Biotin were helpful for this problem. I recently read that if you have had breast cancer that you should not take Saw Palmetto--why?
I have NOT had breast cancer however, my sister has. Now I'm not sure if it is too risky for me to take.
Can it cause cancer?
Any help would be most appreciated.
