Had a new hot water heater installed and I still keep running out of hot water on tub -- -pressure seems OK but I have to keep turning hot water knob more and more to try and get more hot water, this is early in the bath, do not have access to fixture behind wall-could my diverter be bad(old plumbing)-will have to remove section of wall to repair if needed ?please advise? Thanks kempt 39

How old is the new water heater? Is the hot water extremely hot when it is first turned on and gradually gets cooler. If this is the case it sounds like you are having problems with the dip tube in the water heater. This is a tube on the cold water inlet that carries the cold water to the bottom of the hot water heater so that the hot and cold will not be mixed at the top of the heater. If for some reason this tube was damaged on instillation, or if it was melted off while soldering the fittings, of it the cold water is connected to the wrong side of the heater this would cause the problem that you are explaining.

Another problem could be that you have an electric water heater and it has two elements and the bottom element is not heating. This would only cause the top half of the heater to heat therefore you are only getting 20 gallons of hot water instead of the normal 40 gallons. Let me know what you find.

The water heater is brand new -1 week old ($500.00) the tub faucets are the only ones that don't work right(hot water) every thing else works fine , could there be dirt etc.in fixture? -has been like this for a while, thanks again

Gas or electric? Did you have this problem before installing new water heater?

This takes the problem away from the new heater and puts the focus on the tub valve. What"s the brand name? How old? One handle or two knobs? Is there a temp control or skuld guard on the faucet? Let us know any more details that may come to mind. Regards. Tom
