Hello BigNath,

Is "please add a burner" your interpretation of the exact error message? If so, please provide the exact error message as it appears on your monitor. Also, check to make sure that the media you are trying to burn to matches the capabilities of the burner (ie, CD-RW burner using CD-R disks). Finally, please identify the name of the software that is generating that error.

Windows media player is the software when you open up the burn tab on the top of the right hand side above the list of projects is where the message comes up saying please connect burner and restart the process to continue. If it was because the burner wasn't compatible then it would not have worked before. The burner was working before because its done a lot of copying for me I'm a mobile dj and I've done copies of all my originals. When I look at the properties of the burner it says that the device is working properly

Have you possibly installed any other burning software since you used media player to burn copies, has any other prgrams been installed since last use with media player
Have you gotten all your MS updates
You can try to use a restore point to go back to an earlier date when burner was working
