I have a backhoe and dump truck that I use on my orchard. I've been selling topsoil from my orchard and I keep getting requests from customers for other services outside agriculture. One person wanted me to dig the foundation for his new house inside the city limits. Other people have wanted me to haul gravel for them for their driveways.

I think there is money to be made based on the requests I have received without even advertising yet, but I don't want any legal problems.

What licenses and insurance do I need? Are there any other considerations I am missing?

Thanks!

Big time liability, you dig and hit a gas line, the cost can be in the 1000's

Your trucks will need commercial insurance, if you don't already have it, you will need libility insurance, depending on where you live a contractors license perhaps, a business license.
