I currently have a family staying with me. They are not related to me and I did not know the mother and one of the children before they moved in with me. I offered them a place to sty while she got back on her feet. In the three months she has been with me she has not gotten a job and barely looks for one. I live in Kentucky and want to know if I need to obtain an eviction notice to get them out of my house. The only contribution she has made to the household in any way is some food stamps, which don't even cover half of the food budget for the month. How do I go about kicking them out legally?

I'm not sure about any other state, but here in Minnesota you have to obtain an unlawful detainer for any person who has lived in your home for at least 30 or 60 days. A good idea for you would be to check your local tenants rights office or legal aid office for suggestions.

Yes, there is a old saying no good deed goes unpunished. Try first of course to merely order them out of the house, ( and hope they don't take everything you own when they move out)

But yes, at this point you will need to go get an official eviction.
