I have a Gateway 835GM & I was shutting it down and we had a brown out. Now the tower will not power on at all. :(

Sometimes when the power is cut off or a power surge occurs, it will burn out circuits in electrical devices, basically ruining them. If it will not turn on, chances are the power supply has been destroyed.

On gateways, the power supply is the most likely culprit. The local tech in my city chuckles whenever someone with a Gateway calls, saying "We're about to sell another power supply replacement."
On the other hand, this is also one of the easiest to replace. Power supplies unscrew from the case chassis pretty easily, in most cases. (pun intended) Pay close attention or take pictures of the connections. Though all the connectors are the same, it might make it easier when putting th new one in place.
Take the old supply to a local shop and pick up a standard-size replacement. Shouldn't cost more than $50, a lot less in some cases. (pun intended)
