I moved into an older home (30 yrs old) and found that the bathtub and shower would both expel water... I replaced the diverter stem and still have problem. I checked for debris and trash but still can't solve problem. I am beginning to think I replaced the stem, but that previous owner used wrong stem... any help out there?

Are you saying that both the tub and shower are backing up out of the drains?
And you replaced the center diverter stem and washer assembly in the faccet but it didn't help.
Is that correct? Tom

No, I'm sorry... when using this tub/shower both run no matter what I do. I can't get the shower to stop running, but I can get the tub faucet to stop when shower is running

Sounds like you've replaced with the wrong stem also. I'll need the brand name of the shower valve and about how old it is. I'll need this information to come up with a exact replacement for you. Regards, Tom

Can't seem to locate brand, but house was built in 1978 and I believe it is original.

The brand is somewhere on the valve. Got to have it to get the correct stem and washer assenbly. Regards, tom
