We are trying to replace two single light pendants with two double lighted ceiling fixtures.

In the room there are three single pendant lights that are controlled with a single light switch.

The problem we are having is that the new ceiling light fixtures have two sets of black/white/ground wires and so does each of the ceiling openings.

We tried to wire blacks together and whites together but no light comes on.

Then when we put one house black to one light black and the other house black to the other light black only one light went on and there was a strange pinging noise...

How do we wire them correctly?

Thanks in advance for any help

The most likely way for things to be wired would be for a feed cable* to go the switch, and then a cable to the first fixture, and a second cable from it to the next, and finally just a cable in to the last fixture. The light fixture should also have black, white and ground wires, perhaps a set for each light. I do not see why the all black, all white, and all ground connection did not work. Before any of the other 2 fixtures will work, the one with the feed from the switch must be connected. Got no idea what the pinging is. If it doesn't seem to be wired like I said, post back. If I can't figure it out, others can.

*Cable, likely 14-2 with ground. Black, whit, and ground in a jacket holding them together.
