I am a commercial electrician with limited residential experience. I have been asked to relocate a panel in a house and would like tips on technique. Is the best method to use the existing panel location as a junction box with terminal strips to extend branch circuits to the new location? Will feeder cables and conduit from meter have to be re-ran or can they be spliced at old panel location and continued to new panel? Also, does the grounding and bonding for new panel need to be new or can it be continued from old panel along with branch circuits?

Any tips you may have are appreciated along with typical code requirements for such a job!

Using the old box as a junction should be OK, as long as the cover is intact, no openings, as if it was a junction box. Be done before.

Wirenuts would be the typical splicing method.

Before getting into how to wire the feeder for the new panel in the new location, need to know where the Main Service disconnecting Means is or will be located.
