Please Help! I am severely disabled and my wife has filed a legal separation. I was giving her what I could but she still filed for garnishment of my disability payments. I live in California is there anything I can do to stop her from taking my money. My disability co tells me she has filed for half of my payment. She has lied about what I have given her and how much I get. PLease Heeeeeeeelp

You mentioned a disability company; are you receiving benefits from an insurance company? Is this work related? Have you filed for social security disability? Does your wife work? Is she able to work? What is the reason for the separation? Have you been to court and has the judge entered an order? If so, what does it say?

Yes they are benefits from a private company spinal stenosis and paralysis on my left side. Not work related, yes I am being represented by binder and binder for SS, Yes she works as school teacher, I left due to her out of control anger towards me, so maybe the kids would have some peace, They were an order entered but she gave false amounts about what I get. I couldn't afford an attorney and hers destroyed me.

Dartman, you said, "...she still filed for garnishment of my disability payments." Can you provide more information about this? Has a judge ruled on an alimony claim? Has a judge ruled on a property settlement claim? I don't see how you can afford not to have a lawyer. Who is your wife's employer? Public or private? What grade?
