I know the vet is always the best place to ask, but I'm waiting for my appointment date, so I just wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience and what I could do to ease my kitties pain.

I have 2 cats. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed one of the kitties started throwing up about 2 weeks ago. I switched their food, but the throwing up continued. At first, it started being a pinkish color with food and hair in the mix.

About a week ago, I noticed the puke started looking like stomach acid, it was a yellow color. I finally caught my older kitty (she'll be 7 in a couple of months) throwing up. She was only laying around the house/not very active. She's chubby, the vet said her weight isn't bad either. She loves food and she's a very curious cat, so I figured she found something on the floor somewhere and ate it (and she shouldn't have). Saturday, I gave her a wet can of food, and she didn't touch it (she usually gobbles this down and then goes and finishes the other cat's plate).

A couple of days ago she started acting more normal. She was being friendly again, I noticed she was back to eating her dry food normally again - so I was even more convinced that she had just eaten something bad.

Except... this morning, I was in the bathroom and noticed this dark brown, gooey stuff. Throw up? I read online that dark brown puke can be a sign of a failing liver?

Right before I left to come to work, she came walking into me, and it scared the crap out of me because she walking in the weirdest fashion. Her left side of her body was stiff, she was reaching her paw up into the air, before putting it back down on the ground again. She was also leaning to one side. Her pupils were dialated funny, one was bigger than the other. I guess my poor kitty isn't getting better :( Her tail was also fluffed, like she would do when she's frightened by something. She tried to jump on the bed, but was sort of shaking, like she was dizzy.

This sound familiar to anyone?

It doesn't sound familiar, and it sounds serious enough that I'd get on the phone and move the appointment up. Vets I've used before would do drop-offs for situations like this (leave the cat there in the morning, and they will look at kitty in-between the scheduled appointments.) Or go to an emergency vet.

I agree with Froggy7. Tell your vet you are going to drop the cat off in the morning and that it cannot wait. Most vets will do as Froggy says and look at the cat between visits. That is exactly what I did to my vets this morning. Make sure they do a complete chemistry panel/ blood work up to check for high enzymes in case it is a liver/ kidney issue. It sounds exactly like that to me. Good luck! Let us know how your kitty is!

I was able to get into a vet; another appointment cancled. One of the downsides to living in the Keys is emergencies & sometimes not treated as such.

She ended up having leukemia & petechia. She's in the later stages of both illnesses. She was given a steroid shot yesterday and a water pack on her back to help hydrate her. The vet thought the 2 different size pupils is probably due to a tumor in her brain, but at this point, the illness is so far advanced, there's nothing I can do for her.

I had her tested for feline luekemia when she was 9 months old; the test had come back negative. She is & always has been a strickly indoor cat. I think the test was done incorrectly or something... it doesn't surprise me she does have the illnesses she has, she has come from a long line of inbreaded cats. It's sad though because she is the most loving cat I have ever had. I had always expected her life to be shorter than most because she was imbread, but certianley not 6 years... it's just too short.

The vet recommended putting her down soon. I haven't seen her eat yet, and she has lost weight since her last vet visit. I think this will probably be my last weekend with her. I wish there was more I could do for her, but I don't want her starving herself & I certianly don't want her in pain.

Had I known about the leukemia earlier, I could have given her some medicine which would have slowed down to the spread of cancerous cells in her body. I feel like I let her down somehow.

My other kitty, Screwball, is the offspring of the sick cat's mom and the sick cat's brother... I made an appointment for her to go in & get tested. The vet was very worried she may have the same illness.

It's just crazy to think Cali was running around only about a week an a half ago, happy as could be.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. I knew it sounded like something bad (though what you describe is not symptoms of kidney or liver disease) -- I am not that familiar with feline leukemia, so I can't really say about whether some test was done wrong or not. If you really believe that, you might try a second opinion. You never know when something can be treated.

But if it's really leukemia, the best gift you could give her is letting her go in peace. It's always a difficult decision to make. But remember she'll be some place better and not have to deal with any of this anymore. Take care.
