What is the statue of limitations for judgements filed at a County court house. We surrendered a vehicle almost 20 years ago, and it is still on record through the courts. Can they continue to renew for an unlimited time? We are considering selling our house, and are afraid that they will enforce the judgement before we sell. Thanks.

I believe judgements can be renewed in perpetuity. What state?

A judgement generally lasts for 10 years but is renewable for another 10, at least. The rules vary by jurisdiction so without knowing where you are we can't state positively.

However, if they do not have a lien against your house they can't stop the sale. What they might be able to do is freeze your bank account after you deposit the proceeds of the sale.
