Hello there. This is my first question ever at this site. My question concerns the new baseboard heaters my husband and I had installed in our great room. The heaters on the South wall are working (and humming - which is a sound I didn't notice before), the heaters on the North wall are completely cold. The two heaters on the back wall are operated by separate thermostats, which I've tried turning all the way down then all the way up, off and on - everything. The two heaters on the front (South) wall are operated on the same thermostat. The weather has changed in the past few days - it has gotten extremely cold - could the cold temp have knocked out my heaters? What's going on?

Did the heaters not working ever work?

The humming can be, assuming the heaters are working properly, are wired correctly, and have the proper voltage, the heat element is vibrating due being loosly mounted in the heater, and/or the metal case is vibrating.

You mention other heaters that are not working. These may not be wired correctly, and need to be checked out and corrected.

Thanks for the reply. In answer, yes, the heaters were working before and just recently have quit. Basically, all of them were fine until about the time it got really cold.

Then something has failed, either the stat, breaker, or a splice connection.
