I have 1987 Honda Accord with Double Carburetors,It has 3 variation of problems
1) will start up and race up to 3000 rpm and stay there... tapping gas will only cause it ti creep up higher... diesels when turns engine off in this mode45% of time
2)the other thing it does is oscillate when you start up or have been driving awhile
It will range between 1000 and 3500 rpm has it swings back and forth.45% of time
3) the other thing it does is occasional idle to low and dies while you drive
Maybe 5 % of the time
4) 5% time it runs smooth and great.
Can you help me... The mechanics around here are saying there is only one
Option overall in local shop for $1500 with one year warranty... like a better option
Please if you have one !

Although your problem is complex, I had a simmilarly complex problem that you might be able to make use of:

1) Cold start - idle OK
2) Start after warm up and shut off for 1/2 hour. - low idle, 3 hours off, fine again

What the xx?

It turned out that the anti-dieseling solenoid job is to open the EGR valve when the engine is off. This provides the anti-dieseling. That valve was mounted on top of the valve cover and when it would get hot it would stick. Very tough to find.

Look for when these things happen as I did.

I also had interesting things happen when the aux acceleration pump failed and pieces got into an internal passage of the carb. That's when I had to rebuild it. All 120 pieces.
