Hi,

Here is the situation. Two light bulbs blew. Our handy man told us that when you replace the bulbs 12v that you can not touch them or they will keep blowing. So we used gloves and changed the two blown bulbs. Voilą! Light. About 3 days later the first one blew again and then the second. So back up on the ladder and we look at the bulbs. They are fine, not blown but no light. We tried new bulbs, and moving the light to a different part of the track. Since nothing is working I am here. Any help would be great.

You can not touch, and even should verify clean, A bulb can appear fine, but have a fine break, I would try bulb in a good fixture, to verify bulb, transformer, or connection.

Also remove light, look at track, try new location. Be sure to install light so 2 contacts on 1 side of light fixture match 2 contact on one side track. You will have to look closely at the inside copper rails of track.

The problem with track lighting is that the buss bars have a tendency to corrode just enough to give an intermittent break in the power source and hence a power surge to the bulbs when it comes back on. Cleaning of the track copper bars and possibly the bulb socket connections with a fine emery or sand paper is probably needed. Hope this helps.

I have a series of 3 pendant lights. The first one keeps blowing the transformer. We have replaced the fixture closest to the switch 5 times. Electrician has checked wiring and says all is fine. He thinks it is a bad batch of transformers in these lights. Says they are too sensitive. Will probably have to replace with new 120v fixtures. Anyone else had this problem?
